Openboard works nicely except that I cannot see fonts in the imported file. It works using from github. Maybe a poppler problem? Thanks for your work, Enrique.

could you provide a pdf, which has problems.
and which version from github did you try? 1.6.0a?

The file comes from pdflatex; I think the version is 1.5.4
